Clunk Click Head of Technical Services finalist for service award
Bruce Laing the Head of Technical Services at data storage company Clunk Click has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious British Computer Society’s (BCS) Service Manager of The Year Award. This is a fantastic accolade especially as he is up against individuals from some of the very largest organisations in UK.
The BCS IT Industry Awards, supported by Intellect and NCC, are the leading hallmark of success amongst practitioners today. The cross industry awards form a central element to the BCS’ professionalism in IT initiative and recognise, promote and acclaim excellence, professionalism, innovation and the outstanding achievements to which individuals and groups contribute.
For Clunk Click this award recognises the high level of commitment that the company has developed in delivering 'above expectation' customer care. As the head of the team Bruce has been instrumental in encouraging a culture of striving and succeeding to deal with all enquiries in a calm, friendly and intelligent manner ensuring an efficient and prompt service experience for customers. The company’s policy is to adopt a 'kid glove' attitude, and they endeavour to improve performance at all levels to quickly diagnose issues using non technical jargon. The team have all undergone a very rigorous training schedule over the last year.
'Our customers recommend our service on a regular basis and in particular Bruce' said Managing Director Paul Roberts 'He has an exceptionally calm friendly approach which is so rare in service desks these days. Whilst his rivals for the top spot may be from large blue chip companies, it is the case that this recognition is a further endorsement of the extra service that small and medium sized businesses offer.'
Indeed, most of us will have been left on hold for minutes at a time only to be put through to the wrong person or someone whose attitude leaves a lot to be desired. This cannot be said of Clunk Click. Under the management of Bruce, the team have developed into a strong and efficient yet personable group of professionals.
'In the current economic situation it is rewarding to see that IT is continuing to lead through innovation and deliver real business benefits.' Said David Clarke, BCS chief executive 'Technology is an integral and expected part of everyday life and is at the heart of literally every business – even farming. Having a responsive support professional at the end of a phone is crucial to success'
But Bruce is more reserved 'I am happy to be a back room person offering support when needed. I am still reeling from the news that I am a finalist in such an important national award' he said 'I have been working in IT for many years now, having previously worked for a training company teaching IT skills. When I come upon a problem that I can’t immediately solve I have to find the answer. This attitude is very helpful on an IT support help desk, coupled with the fact that I am lucky to be endowed with bundles of patience!'
Bruce works within the Clunk Click backup division. Backing up folders ensures that businesses and individuals keep a daily copy of all files for a thirty day period. Then should something untoward happen such as a computer virus, a break in, floods etc the files can be restored without any loss of data. Bruce’s role is to guide individuals in their initial stages of using the online backup service to highlight those folders that need to be backed up and to help them to set their automatic backup schedule. Although the service itself is extremely easy to use, Clunk Click likes to offer as much assistance as possible to all users of the software. Bruce is also available to assist users in restoring folders intact should circumstances require.
