Clunk Click Honoured for Enterprise by French Prime Minister
Le Matignon (French equivalent of Downing Street) was the venue for a prestigious event to celebrate the close commercial ties between France and Wales earlier this month; an event that saw Conwy based Clunk Click’s Paul Roberts and Risc Group’s Loic Pequinot meet Francois Fillon Prime Minister of France and Rhodri Morgan First Minister of Wales. The event took the form of a dinner that had been organised by Fillon’s Welsh wife Penelope Fillon who is especially interested in promoting Franco/Welsh alliances within the Principality.
Paul Roberts and Loic Pequinot, Risc Group’s CEO had been invited in recognition of the recent acquisition of Clunk Click by Risc. The deal was announced at the event as the latest in a series that further cemented close ties between the two countries. It was showcased as a wonderful example of a small company that had grown into a serious acquisition prospect for a multi national enterprise such as Risc through the hard work and expertise of its Welsh team. Clunk Click was further recommended as an excellent example of what the single mindedness of entrepreneurship can achieve as it has grown from a single idea that has been recognised as the number one brand.

Loic Pequinot commented
'We are very proud to be recognised in this way, it further strengthens our conviction that Wales is the ideal location to begin our expansion into the rest of the UK. Francois Fillon and Rhodri Morgan were both extremely impressed by the synergies between our two companies and indeed our two countries. Risc Group has made an investment of some 5m Euros and a further commitment of another 2m within the next two years and look forward to achieving great results with our Welsh colleagues.'
Commenting on his conversation with Francois Fillon Paul Roberts said
'It was a great honour to meet Francois Fillon and his wife, they expressed an interest in Clunk Click and I explained that we began in a back room in 2000 and have risen to being one of the leading data storage solutions companies in the UK, indeed, the only company based in Wales who are purely dedicated to offering data storage solutions. The deal with Risc Group will allow us to fast track our growth target and take on another forty employees within the next twelve months.'
'Fillon gave a tremendous speech regarding the close relationships between Wales and France, forged through the similarities in Celtic / Gallic personalities. He mentioned the many larger French organisations that have traditionally seen Wales as an ideal area to invest in. He then continued to express the belief that French businesses of all sizes will increasingly see the country as the area of choice for relocation or expansion due to the high standard of living, highly skilled workforce and the incentives offered to inward investors by the Welsh Assembly Government.'

Indeed the French/ Welsh alliance is set to continue with over 4,000 Welsh workers currently employed in French owned companies such as Thallis, Airbus AXA, Cap Gemini and Saint Gobain. The future will hopefully see more companies recognising that Wales is not simply a rural idyll it is also home to some of the most cutting edge enterprises in Europe.
